Biography:

Lutson Stroud was born in Duplin County, North Carolina CA 1758. He was a farm owner and raised crops in Duplin county. The land records of Duplin, Sampson and Dobbs county contain many land transactions that Lutson was a party too. He married Hannah Croom in 1780. The couple raised six children.

During the Revolutionary War Lutson enlisted in the NC Militia, Wilmington District. He served under the rank of private. As a soldier of Duplin County, he served under Capt. Alexander Outlaw and Col. James Kenan. Richard Caswell's Journal A shows that Lutson was paid for 20 days of service. He was present at the Battle of Mores Creek. 

Lutson's will was probated on August 22, 1798 in Duplin County. His will indicates that he had a desire for all of his children to be literate. His will set aside money to pay for the schooling of his younger children.
